Up from the cradle of jazz, New Orleans born and raised, David Decuirs’ professional music life began in junior high school as a trumpeter performing with gig bands in, and around New Orleans. David continued to develop his skills in high school, as a session trumpeter; at Allen Toussaint’s Sea-Saint Recording Studio. He went on to play lead trumpet in the Southern University Jazz Band under Kidd Jordan.
David then became a music director for some of the hottest gig bands in New Orleans; performing on world famous Bourbon Street. His technical training in recording production began with the signing of a recording and publishing contract with Days of Old Publishing Company and Knight Recording Studios. After seven years of training and learning the craft of music production, Parker/Decuir Associates was formed. Parker/Decuir Associates provided recording and live sound reinforcement for many of New Orleans’ finest musicians as well as national artists.
